Our History
In 1997, Phil & Helen Sutherland and Rob & Karen Wheatley joined the Reigate & Redhill Community Church (RRCC), part of the Newfrontiers family of Churches. Both couples lived in Dorking and within months they had agreed with each other and with the leadership of RRCC that they would work towards planting a new Church in Dorking.
Slowly but surely over the following years, God added to the number of people at RRCC that lived in the Dorking area and had a desire to be part of a new Church in the town. After one or two false starts, it became clear in 2006 that there was a sufficient core of committed people to take the step of planting the Church! In April 2007, 10 years after the plan was originally conceived, The Vine was planted.
The reason for establishing The Vine is not to "compete" with other Churches in the town, but to concentrate our efforts on the missionary purpose of the Church, which is to make the good news of Jesus clear and accessible to those who have never heard or understood it. We welcome all those who want to play their part in this task.
